Mr. Smith has served in leadership roles in provider entities and has been instrumental in the creation and management of a number of health care companies for over 25 years. Before forming Beam Partners he was the president of a consulting company that provided contracting strategies and negotiation, product design and positioning, and network development to providers and provider-owned plans. He has been CEO of a leading healthcare compliance and accreditation software company, HealthFlash, Inc. /Compliance 360 for use by firms seeking JCAHO, NCQA, URAC and HIPAA credentials.
Mr. Smith has held senior executive management positions with Kaiser Permanente, served as the CEO at Healthsource- Midwest, Blue Care Network of Michigan and Medical Value Plan, and General Manger of Health Power, Inc. He has been responsible for profitably starting and building HMOs as well as provider practices. He began his career as a practice manager for a large medical group in Cincinnati, Ohio. His experience and leadership in the industry are key assets to Beam Partners, and his skills include a broad spectrum in healthcare, including management consulting, Medicare and Medicaid product positioning, fee schedule negotiation, strategic product design, and provider network building.
Currently, Mr. Smith serves on the, URAC, IT Advisory Council in Washington, DC, and also serves as a board member for Inner Harbour Hospital in Douglasville, Georgia, and Coventry Health Plans, Southeast Division. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance and Management from Xavier University. |
